How far would you travel to heal someone you love? An intensely personal yet epic spiritual journey, The Horse Boy follows one Texas couple and their autistic son as they trek on horseback through Outer Mongolia in an attempt to find healing for their son. When two-year-old Rowan was diagnosed with autism, Rupert Isaacson, a writer and former horse trainer, and his wife Kristin Neff, a psychology professor, sought the best possible medical care for their son—but traditional therapies had little effect. Then they discovered that Rowan has a profound affinity for animals— particularly horses—and the family set off on a quest that would change their lives forever.

Join award-winning documentary and reality TV producer Rupert Isaacson for “Movement Method – How to Train the Autistic (and the Neurotypical) Brain” on Saturday, September 19 from 10:00am – 3:00pm. Rupert Isaacson, founder and co-director of the Horse Boy Foundation will present this workshop in kinetic learning, explaining how it works beyond autism – for anything neuro-psychiatric, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, PTSD and more.
Break free from the rigid structures of conventional educational and behavioral therapies and learn something much more effective and direct that any family can do any time.
This workshop will show parents and professionals alike how to use specific movements – broken down into 6 easy steps – that fill the body with the communication and happiness hormone oxytocin, calm down the nervous system and amygdala (the part of the brain that governs fight/flight/freeze/anxiety), and activate the learning centers of the brain. It’s easy, simple and can be done anywhere.
Developed in conjunction with the universities of Texas and Belmont in the USA, Osnabreuk in Germany, Gothenburg in Sweden and Nottingham Trent in the UK, Movement Method is a cutting edge, new approach that allows parents and teachers to access directly the child’s learning receptors and put the brain into the ideal position to both receive and more importantly, to retain, information.
The workshop delves into the science behind Movement Method and the scientists involved such as Dr. Kristin Neff, professor of Education, University of Texas, and Dr. Alfred Ziegler, Goethe Institute and University of Osnabreuk, Germany. Through combining theory, practical exercises, and case studies, this workshop gives you a tangible system to take home and utilize.
Learn how to set up the correct environment for learning, eliminating all bad sensory triggers, then how to actively calm the nervous system to prepare the brain for learning. Isaacson will teach you how to set up the correct type of movements to activate the brain’s learning centers, how to build perspective-taking techniques, and finally how to teach the national curriculum, including math and science, all through movement and play. By the end of the workshop, you’ll wish you could start your education all over again…and you can, with your child!
