Jen Fogel’s “Map of the World #16” is certainly a unique cartography. Hot pink threads mingle with shy lines of yellow, their radiance scattered. A patch of green string climbs up from the edge of this flattened globe, meeting a flash fire of reds and a snowfall of brown. The string is tightly bound together, squirming with motion and activity, a strong representation of Fogel’s idea that embroidery is “painting with thread.” Read more…
